Last 23 July, 2007 ; a day long national workshop on “Union Based FoSHoL Livestock Satellite Clinic Establishment” was organized at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) Conference Room-1. Dr. Sunil Chandra Ghosh, Director General, Directorate of Livestock (DLS), Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock (MoF&L) inaugurated the workshop as a Chief Guest.
The objectives of that workshop were to identify existing strength and weaknesses of livestock support and services at union level and find out scope and means to promote and develop existing livestock support services in the remote villages from selected 9 unions under FoSHoL upzilla project areas, which intern help to FoSHoL resource poor framers in better livestock production mitigating food security and create income options developing existing livelihood.
On behalf of Mr. Masud Alam Khan , Project Manager of FoSHoL; Mr. Kabir Mallik, Associate Coordinator, Livestock given welcome address; while, Mr. Asgar Ali Sabri , Sector Head, Social Development & Economic Justice, ActionAid Bangladesh and Mr. Abdul Awal, Chief Executive, NRDS , Noakhali given their valuable speeches in the inaugural session.
All concerned District Livestock Officers (DLOs), Upzilla Livestock Officers (ULOs), PNGO Executives, FoSHoL-AAB's project coordination & Management Team Members, Union Parishad Chairmen, Institutional Development Officers (IDOs) of FoSHoL and related Farmers Representatives (Paravets) were effectively participated in the workshop.
The Technical Sessions was chaired by Dr. Abdul Motalib, Director, Animal Health & Administration, Directorate of Livestock Services and participated in sharing with his remarkable presence.
The Group Discussion Session was chaired by Dr. Kazi Md. Komor Uddin, Member-Director (Livestock), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC).
The workshop concluded with technical presentation of the DLOs, effective discussion, pro-active reactions and sharing with valuable recommendations.
The total workshop was coordinated by Kabir Mallik and beautifully anchored by Jahanara Parvin , Associate Coordinator, Rights & Advocacy, FoSHoL-AAB.
The proceeding of the national workshop has already prepared and sent to the all concerned personnel.
Now, as per project recommendation; a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been under processing jointly by the DLS & FoSHoL-AAB and will be signed by both Head of Organizations very soon.
