FoSHoL-IRRI organized meeting on Bird Flu with GoB focal person

FoSHoL-IRRI organized a meeting on Saturday, August 5, 2006 to discuss the FoSHoL-GoB possible collaboration for managing the emerging Avian Flu (Bird flu) pandemic. Dr. Md. Abdul Motalib, Director (Animal Health & Admin), Department of Livestock Services; Kabir Uddin Mallik, Associate Coordinator-Livestock, FoSHoL-ActionAid; Dr. Noel P Magor, Project Manager, FoSHoL-IRRI & IRRI Representative for Bangladesh and Mamunul Haque, Asst Manager-Communications, FoSHoL-IRRI were present in the meeting.

Dr. Mutalib informed about the limited GoB campaign on Bird Flu on BTV and Bangladesh Betar. However, he emphasized that this campaign should be stronger with all out support form the development partners. In this connection he informed that presently UNICEF is developing a Communication Strategy on Bird Flu in collaboration with the Go-NGO and development partners.

FoSHoL-IRRI will write an official letter to Dr. Motalib on the following:

1 For providing GoB technical support in conducting ToT with PowerPoint presentations in Bangla to FoSHoL works at Upazila level under FoSHoL working areas.
2 For providing GoB approved communication materials to disseminate among FoSHoL partners. If necessary, the same materials can be reproduced by FoSHoL partners for wider dissemination.
 

Dr. Motalib suggested that with technical support from GoB, FoSHoL can also arrange a ToT at central level in Dhaka bringing its field people.
