A Technology Fair-cum-Training for FoSHoL-NGOs Field Officers was held at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) and Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) in Mymensingh during 1 – 4 March 2008. Four field officers from FoSHoL-ActionAid; six field officers from FoSHoL-CARE and its PNGOs and eleven field officers from FoSHoL-Practical Action and their PNGOs took part in the programme. The participants took part in the lively discussions and interacted with the scientists of the three organizations. Finally they have prepared a draft plant to obtain the following technologies. These are garlic tablet, BAUKUL, straw chopper, BINA summer tomato, BINA Mungbean, BINA-Patsak, BINA bio-fertilizer, BFRI-super monosex tilapia, BFRI-punti, BFRI-catfish, Rice-fish-culture & pond management.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Musharraf Hossain Mian, the Vice-Chancellor of BAU as Chief Guest. Dr. M. A. Hamid Miah, Liaison Scientist of IRRI-Bangladesh and Dr. M. A. Mazid, DG, BFRI were present as Special Guests. The function was Chaired by the Prof. Dr. Md. Shah-E-Alam, Director, BAURES, BAU, Mymensingh. There was a closing ceremony of the programme at 7.00 PM on 4 March 2008 , followed by a dinner. Participants have received completion certificates from the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Musharraf Hossain Mian, the Vice-Chancellor of BAU. The DG of BINA, Mr. Ratan Kumar Dutta was present in the ceremony as a special guest. The speakers in the closing ceremony highly appreciated the programme initiated by FoSHoL-Coordination Project/IRRI, Bangladesh. |
