FoSHoL-Practical Action arranged a training course titled `Improving Basic Understanding and Skill to Implement Project Activities' in Jamalpur from June 18 to July 2, 2006 at Horticulture Centre of Jamalpur. Newly recruited 20 Community Organizers and 9 Supervisors from 10 partner NGOs of Jamalpur and greater Faridpur Districts participated in the course.
FoSHoL-Pracrtical Action (PA) Team Leader Mr. Mohammad Ali inaugurated the training as Chief Guest at 9 am on June 18. FoSHoL-PA Area Manager for Jamalpur Mr. Ashraf Uddin delivered the welcome speech and Farming System Specialist Mr. Bazlur Rahman addressed the inaugural session.
FoSHoL-PA team members, District level experts from Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Directorate of Livestock (DLS), Directorate of Fisheries (DoF) and Executive Directors of partner NGOs facilitated the training sessions.
Food and nutritional security, vulnerability, rural livelihood, selection of target beneficiaries using participatory tools and techniques, beneficiaries' need assessment, group formation, farming system development, technology extension, off-farm activities for income generation, agro-processing, marketing, concept of bio-village and Rural Technology Centre (RTC) were the major contents of the training course.
Deputy Director of DAE Mr. Ziaul Haque Gazi distributed certificates among the participants and addressed in the closing session of the training course on July 2. Assistant Horticulturist of Jamalpur Horticulture Centre Mr. Shahinul Islam, Mr. Jahangir Selim of Unnayan Sangha and FoSHoL-PA Jamalpur Area Manager Mr. Ashraf Uddin also addressed the closing session.
