FoSHoL-Practical Action organized a PPR (Pest de petits ruminants) vaccination campaign for goats on September 16, 2006 at Hulail village of Baliakandi upazila in Rajbari district. A total of 376 goats were vaccinated free of cost during the campaign.
Upazila Livestock Officer (ULO) Dr. Shachindranath Biswas inaugurated the campaign in the morning. Mr. Abdus Sattar, Executive Director of one of the FoSHoL-Practical Action local NGO partners Voluntary Paribar Kalyan Association (VPKA) was present.
The campaign got an overwhelming response from goat rearing households of the village. Total 146 persons including 59 females brought their goats for vaccination. They spontaneously assembled their goats and waited for registration in a big queue. The vaccination started in the morning and continued until noon.
FoSHoL-Practical Action Rural Technology Extensionists (RTE) carried out the vaccination. The Upazila Livestock Officer (ULO) Dr. Shachindranath Biswas, Veterinary Officer (VO) of FoSHoL-Practical Action Dr. Azizul Haque Chowdhury and Community Organizer of VPKA supported them. |
