FoSHoL-Practical Action (PA) organised a week-long training course on Horticulture and Nursery Management in Rajbari from February 7-13, 2007 with the support of Directorate of Agriculture Extension (DAE). Twenty-six Rural Technology Extensionist (RTE) from Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur and Rajbari districts participated in the training.

Deputy Director (Agriculture) of DAE-Rajbari Mr. Subol Kumar Saha inaugurated the training as chief guest on February 7 at VPKA training centre in Rajbari. Chairman of VPKA Ms. Jahanara Islam and Executive Director Mr. Abdus Sattar were also present in the occasion.

Land selection and preparation, compost preparation, pot mixture, seed bed preparation, seed collection, grafting, cutting, budding, layering, pest management, and marketing were the major contents of the training.

Horticulturist of Rajbari Mr. Rezaul Karim and Md. Tofazzal Hossain, a FoSHoL project supported nursery entrepreneur facilitated the training as resource persons. Md. Kamrul Islam, Agriculture Extension Officer, and Md. Tafiqul Islam, Sr. Market Promotion Officer of Practical Action also facilitated different theoretical and practical sessions of the training.
