Food Security for Sustainable Household Livelihoods (FoSHoL) project has started its baseline survey in 14 districts covering 38 upazilas across the Bangladesh since February 5, 2006. The survey is being conducted by the three implementing NGOs -ActionAid, CARE and ITDG -in coordination with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The major areas covered by the survey are food security, household income, livelihoods status, agricultural technology adoption and productivity, marketing practices, linkage development and access to services. A total of 1070 households from participating farmers and equal number from non-participating farmers as control have been selected through systematic sampling with probability proportional to size (PPS). Data have been collecting through a pre-tested structured common questionnaire by all the partners. Intensive training has been imparted to the investigators including field-testing of the questionnaire. Data collection on CARE site is almost completed and other partners' sites are on progress. Partners will prepare their inaiVldUal baseline survey reports. IRRI will prepare a synthesis report combining the partners' reports. It is expected that the partners' reports on baseline survey will be ready by June 2006. |
